Agri Expo 2019
PRESS RELEASE: 5 NOVEMBER 2018
To all Agri-Expo Exhibitors, Vistors, Sponsors and Supporters
I write with regard to the Agri Expo and by way of an update in the void of information relating to the 2019 show. It is with great regret that we understand that we will not be able to hold Agri-Expo at the Kent Show Ground for 2019, our ninth anniversary show, through reasons that are outside of our control and centred around the near doubling of the site costs making the production of the event unviable. We had considered options to mitigate the imposed uplift in rental by ways of increasing the pitch prices and whether the show could sustain an admission charge, both options that we felt would significantly harm the levels of attendance which we’ve enjoyed seeing rise year on year to date. The Board at RAMSAK and subsidiary Pitchfork Events have been engaged on numerous discussions with Kent County Agricultural Society to try and make a 2019 show possible with a number of commercial proposals being tabled however, at this late date and with sadness, a line has been drawn that the Show will not happen as in the past at the Kent Showground. We understand, although not officially informed, that Kent County Agricultural Society will be holding an alternative function on the 6th March at the Kent Showground but this will not be a RAMSAK/Pitchfork organised event.
Agri-Expo was created by the late Chris Smith and Jonathan West as a focal point for all those involved in agriculture to showcase the latest developments in machinery and technology in all sectors of agriculture and horticulture, whilst helping farmers work together in synergy to develop new ideas and strategies to help their businesses progress, survive and flourish. We would like to thank all exhibitors and visitors to Agri-Expo for their support over the years that have made the show what it had become, and we are very, very proud of what the Show has achieved. Please be aware that this frustration is not necessarily the demise of Agri Expo, moreover the end of one chapter and the opening of another; there are alternative shows organised by our team on the horizon that you may have seen released in the press last month that have always been aside from Agri-Expo but with this news we will concentrate on developing these opportunities to encompass the void Agri Expo leaves. I hope you will consider supporting Agri South that is held in June 2019 at the East Malling Research Centre in partnership with NIAB where the Chris Smith Memorial Award to The Best Overall Trade Stand will transfer to also.
